Awesome Supermoon Out Tonight

If you haven’t seen it already, you should step outside tonight and check out the awesome “Supermoon” that’s lighting up the night sky.

Scientists say the moon will look 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than it usually does at its peak.

Tonight’s moon is the largest full moon in almost 20 years — the moon is 221,565 miles away from Earth, the closest it has been to our planet since March 1993.

You really don’t want to miss this — the moon won’t be this close to Earth again until 2029!

NASA emphasized that the moon’s near proximity to earth won’t cause natural disasters, although there are expected to be high tides tonight.

Readers, did you see the Supermoon?

All Dolled Up: PCD Reality Show Is Brainchild of Robin Antin, Kim Kardashian

Just after Kim Kardashian tweeted a casting call for those ladies who want to join the Pussycat Dolls, TooFab is announcing that PCD co-creator Robin Antin is partnering with the mogul to produce a reality show.

The as-of-yet unnamed reality show will follow the growth of the PCD franchise, including the casting of a new PCD group.

Although some may roll their eyes at Kim's latest gig, Kardashian is no stranger to producing shows. She was credited as a producer on the E! series "The Spin Crowd."

Weighty Issues: Vogue Italia EIC Launches Petition Against Pro-Anorexia Websites

A recent study from the University of Haifa has shown that the time spent on Facebook is directly linked to increased instances of anorexia, bulimia, and other side effects of a negative physical self-image.

One significant aspect of the study was the positive correlation between images of fashion online and on television and eating disorders.

Vogue editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, after reading the results of the study, has started a petition against pro-anorexia (or "pro-ana") websites and blogs, noting that these sites were in fact worse than Facebook.

It may seem odd that someone so prominent in the fashion industry, an industry often accused of convincing young men and women to reach an unnatural thinness, is standing up against sites and blogs that promote eating disorders, but Sozzani believes the claims against the fashion industry are not what they seem.

To sign the petition against those pro-ana sites and blogs, please visit http://www.vogue.it/en/magazine/petition-against-pro-anorexia-websites.

To read the full article, visit http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/18/franca-sozzani-anorexia-facebook_n_837456.html.

For those who may be suffering an eating disorder or those who know someone who may be suffering, please visit the National Eating Disorders Association's (NEDA) site for what resources are available to you: http://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/information-resources/.

Kate Middleton's Fugs Dress Sells for Over $125,000

People are calling it the dress that made Prince William notice Kate Middleton. The couple’s upcoming Lifetime movie pays homage to it. And an anonymous bidder thought it was an “iconic piece” worth $125,000, according to the AP.

Yes, I am talking about the hideous see-through number shown in the photograph above, believe it or not.

The above photo was taken at the 2002 Don’t Walk charity fashion show at St. Andrews. Kate Middleton is shown modeling a dress designed by University of the West of England student Charlotte Todd. Supposedly, the “dress” was actually supposed to be a skirt, but Kate chose to pair the black-and-gold silk monstrosity with nothing but underwear.

Readers, what do you think of Middleton’s sheer black dress?

Huffington Post Reports Fashion's New Food Obsession is Chicken Pot Pie

It's not every day that The Huffington Post can mention the words "fashion" and "food" in the same sentence. The fashion industry is infamous for employing people who, let's just say, survive on less than the recommended daily caloric intake.

As The Huffington Post notes, The New York Times Style section recently reported that chicken pot pie is the new "it" food for the hardest working people in fashion. According to a source, the dish has been a staple on the scene since the (fashion) recession in 2007.

Even Anna Wintour is loving it. The EIC's personal chef, Hank Tomashevski, told the Times it's her favorite because "it's quick to serve and moves things right along."

For more on the story - and which models are actually eating a piece of the (chicken pot) pie - check out The Huffington Post's article here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/18/chicken-pot-pie-fashion-food-anna-wintour_n_837720.html.

TOMS Soon to Offer More Than Shoes

If you’re a fan of TOMS shoes, then you’ll be excited to learn that the brand has plans to branch out and sell more than just footwear.

Blake Mycoskie, the founder of TOMS shoes, recently delivered the keynote address at SXSW and announced that his company will soon offer more than shoes.

Standing next to a large cardboard box, Mycoskie announced: "The next one-for-one product is inside this mystery box, which will be opened on 7 June. The truth is what’s inside this box is not nearly as important as what is represents. TOMS is no longer a shoe company, it's a one-for-one company.”

For every pair of TOMS shoes sold, a pair of shoes is given to a child in need. Mycoskie got the idea for the company after participating in a shoe drop in 2007 in South Africa.

Readers, do you think that TOMS plans to launch a clothing line? And are you excited about the announcement?

Gilbert Gottfried Gets Fired From Aflac Duck Gig

Social networking isn’t always a good thing — just because you can post whatever half-baked thought pops into your head doesn’t mean that you should. Take it from comedian Gilbert Gottfried, the voice of the Aflac duck since 2000, who was promptly fired for making jokes about the recent disasters in Japan on his Twitter account.

Gottfried made several crude jokes about the recent Japanese disasters, including this one: "I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, 'They'll be another one floating by any minute now.'"

Insurer Aflac derives approximately three-quarters of its revenue from Japan, so it makes sense that his tasteless jokes cost him his job. And I think we can all agree that there’s really nothing funny about the current tragedy that is taking place in Japan.

Unsurprisingly, Gottfried apologized in a statement today that said, "I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan. I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Aflac is currently casting for a new voice for the duck.

Looks like Gottfried should have stuck to quacks instead of offensive wisecracks.

In a statement, Lancome president Youcef Nabi said, "We are delighted by the new collaboration with Emma, who brings a fresh spirit to Lancôme."

Watson’s predecessors include Julia Roberts, Penelope Cruz, and Anne Hathaway. She is the youngest person to ever be chosen as the spokesperson for the brand.
