The shade above was named after Coco Chanel’s love, Arthur Capel, who was often called “Boy.”

Borders Bookstores Out of Money

Borders Group plans to officially file for bankruptcy in the next few days after several unsuccessful attempts to refinance its debts, The Wall Street Journal reported. The book giant will then close 200 of its stores, putting hundreds of employees out of the job.

Since the introduction of the Kindle and other electronic book readers, Borders has been hard pressed to keep up its sales. As technology continues to grow, the future of all bookstores is unstable, meaning Borders might just be the first of many chains to go under.

So what do you think, readers? Does the rise of e-readers signal the death of bookstores? Or will print never go out of fashion?

Guitar Hero Gets the Ax

Forget about rocking out with a virtual axe; Activision has announced today that the Guitar Hero franchise is getting the ax.

“Due to continued declines in the music genre, the company will disband Activision Publishing’s Guitar Hero business unit and discontinue development on its Guitar Hero game for 2011,” said the company in a statement.

The once ubiquitous video game — responsible for making even the best of us dork out and pretend to be rock stars in our living rooms — debuted in 2005 for the Playstation 2 and started the music game genre.

Not only did Guitar Hero appeal to a much wider audience than other types of video games, but it also became the first video game to earn over $1 billion dollars in sales with its 2007 version, Guitar Hero III.

Readers, are you sad to hear about Guitar Hero’s untimely demise? Or are you just bitter because you could never beat Foghat on expert?

Olivia Wilde is No Longer a Princess

There’s will soon be one less beautiful European royal in the world today — Olivia Wilde has separated from her husband, the Italian prince Tao Ruspoli (pictured above with Wilde).

The Tron: Legacy actress, who eloped with Ruspoli in 2003 at age 19, told People.com that the couple has decided to call it quits.

Starpulse reports that last year in an interview with Playboy Magazine, Wilde admitted that living in a 14th century castle and being part of a royal family is no fairytale, saying, "There are dungeons in the basement where they used to torture people. There's a table down there that, when they sanded it, still had blood stains from hundreds of years ago."

Let’s just hope the couple’s divorce isn’t as messy as those scary dungeons.

To Companies, Your Facebook “Like” Costs $1.07

Facebook, the second most visited website in the world, has undoubtedly changed the world of marketing forever. Nowadays, almost every corporation has a social media presence, including a Facebook page where fans can “like” them. But a new analysis by Webtrends found that the cost of advertising on Facebook is steadily rising.

The social marketing and analytics firm discovered that the cost of advertising that encourages Facebook users to “like” a brand on the company’s page is $1.07, on average.

If that seems like a high price to pay for every “fan,” consider the fact that there are over 500 million active Facebook users, each of which represents a user with an average of 130 friends. “Liking” a company page makes them a walking advertisement — and they do so voluntarily. Not only that, but Facebook company pages represent a unique way for brands to reach out to their target audiences directly.

Even though the click-through rate on Facebook ads is declining while the cost to buy them is increasing, it’s unlikely that companies will stop advertising on Facebook. As of right now, it’s impossible to estimate what a “fan” is really worth.

MTV Pulls Plug on Lauren Conrad's Reality Show

MTV has pulled the plug on Lauren Conrad’s new reality show.

David Janollari, MTV’s head of programming, recently told EW.com in an interview that the show “just didn’t feel like a perfect fit for us now.”

In the age of Jersey Shore, it makes sense that the network would shy away from airing a tame reality show focused mainly on Conrad’s new contemporary clothing line, “Paper Crown.”

But Conrad, whom MTV turned into a star, isn’t taking the news so well. She issued a statement, saying:

“We sold a show to MTV, filmed it and are really proud of the final result. MTV felt the subject matter was too high brow for their audience and offered me the opportunity to change the show by incorporating more of my personal life. We agreed going into the project that this show would be an aspirational one, focusing on my career and my goals and not my personal relationships. We delivered the show that we sold and are sorry MTV didn’t feel their viewers were savvy enough to appreciate it.”

While Conrad’s show might not have had enough drama for MTV, it looks like her current feud with the network has no shortage of it.
