Hello Friends, Clients, Collegeus, Readers, and Friends,
I am officially announcing the newest direction for MSM Public Relations, we have just launched our Social Media Department. Examples of social media include blogging, podcasts, forums, online press releases, and social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. The use of social media as a marketing tool is quickly becoming prominent in the modern business world, and it can be an extremely effective way to promote products and services to a targeted audience. Websites function as a static billboard to promote your products, services, or ideas, but social media opens up dynamic dialogue with your audience, allowing for interaction and a great personal connection.
In the public relations industry your ability to network plays such an enormous role in determining the success of your career. Today's PR agent must always keep in mind the age old adage: it's not what you know, but who you know. Why? Because we want to cultivate relationships with people who have connections to the type of people who can garner interest in our clients; we are embracing the social media revolution and using it to our advantage.
We have mastered the art of social networking, Twitter PR, online branding, and internet product placement and outreach and have created an entire department dedicated to successfully executing your social networking the right way, the most productive way. Social media public relations has several advantages over traditional public relations strategies: Unlike many traditional PR methods, social media provides an instant connection between you and your target audience. The key to ANY PR Campaign is to target a niche and execute your strategy so that you are hitting the right people. As soon as you put information up on the internet, it immediately becomes easily available to a large number of people. By contrast, television or radio commercials can take weeks to edit, billboards take time to print, and postcards can take several days to travel through the postal service. In terms of cost, social media PR is extremely affordable when compared to other PR methods. When compared to the cost of sending out flyers or postcards in the mail or airing a television commercial, social media is easily the more valuable option in terms of money and budget. Social media is highly effective in that it makes your information available to millions of people through the internet, but can also be used to reach very specific niches, ensuring that your marketing is catching the attention of people who will be interested in what you have to say. Listing your blog on directory websites allows people to find it by searching for specific subjects or causes. Social networking platforms allow you to join or create groups, inviting like-minded individuals to share dialogue with you about your products, services, or ideas. And achieving top rankings on search engines, which can be aided by building relationships through various forms of social media, helps to promote your site and your company or organization to readers who would otherwise be unaware if its existence.
What I admire most about social media is that it allows for a personal connection because unlike most traditional PR strategies, social media allows you to open up a conversation with your audience, allowing them to provide feedback and discuss their ideas and suggestions about your business. Customers who have a personal connection with your business and feel as though you care about their feelings and opinions are more likely to return to you when they need your services again. For organizations trying to promote an idea or cause, social media allows you to have discussions with people, informing them about your cause and potentially changing minds.

Thats what I love about my job... I have the drive to inform and potentially change minds!
