Everyone Has A Twin

We've all said or heard at some point.."Dude, you look so much like someone I know!" Is it true that everyone in this world has a twin, someone out there somewhere who appears as if they share the same exact DNA?? It's crazy to think about...and now you may have the chance to meet your look-alike, with the Coke Zero Facial Profiler.

This amazing app of the future has recently launched for Facebook, and is FREE! The high-tech application gives its users the capability to conduct facial recognition searches...almost like being part of the government CIA, fun! The basics of how this works is: you upload your pic to the profiler database on Facebook, webcam or desktop. Then, you'll be matched with someone who appears to be your identical other! Taking social media networking to the next level, you are then actually able to contact your look-alike...everyone loves a family reunion connection!

This profiler app is all part of a larger marketing campaign to promote Coke Zero. Their idea is, "if Coke Zero has Coke's taste, there's a greater than average chance that someone else has your face." Catchy and intriguing, right? Coke...marketing genius, gotta love it!

Check out the promo video from coke's website, and click "Find Match" to begin your Profiler experience: www.cocacolazero.com/index.jsp#/facialprofiler/

So..meet your match..someone out there may have your face! (And, in case you're ify on the security of Profiler, all photo you upload and tag will not be used anywhere else on the Net..so no worries!) You must try this out..could be freaky, but could be awesome!

Interview: Daddy Yankee (Live on the Red Carpet)

MSMPR had the chance to attend Daddy Yankee's single release party at Club Quo in NYC and we just couldn't resist asking him some questions about the album and future plans. The reggaeton star was obviously excited to release the single "Grito Mundial" to the highly anticipated album "Mundial". With the help of Coors Light, Daddy Yankee will be having 6 parties for his new single, and why not when the song is bound to hit #1. MSMPR assistant Ana Paula Dutra had the chance to talk to Daddy Yankee himself and ask him everything we wanted to know! Here is what Daddy Yankee had to say in the brief time we had during the huge party:
MSMPR assistant: Ana Paula Dutra

MSM: What inspired you to name the album "Mundial"?
DADDY YANKEE: Mundial, Daddy Yankee represents what is the world-wide music. I'm a world-wide artist, and I have learned so much in the past years about music, about different cultures, different traditions. I have just put everything I have learned in my new album.
MSM: This is your 9th album do you still get excited
or are you nervous at all?
DADDY YANKEE: I get anxious you know. It's natural, if you don't feel that your not really human, you know. But besides that, I'm pretty comfortable with my position I'm in right now, because I have developed good, mature music. Besides writting the lyrics right now I'm working on the production side, so i feel comfortable with what is in the album.

MSM: Have you featured any artists on this album, and how much of an impact has it had on your music?
DADDY YANKEE: Well, Don Omar is on the album on a song called El Desafio. I'm sure you'll hear it soon and like it. It has been a really positive experience.

MSM: What do you have to say about the fate of the genre of reggaeton itself?
DADDY YANKEE: We are in a great position. Sometimes what people don't understand is that reggaeton is a genre that really doesn't depend on radio or television. It is all about the people, we are making music for the people and they respond. Reggaeton is not really a genre, it's bigger than that.

MSM: You recently debuted a new movie at the New York International Film Festival, do you plan on working on any other movies?
DADDY YANKEE: Yeah, next year we are planning to shoot a new movie but I can't speak about that because we are under a contract. But, we are planning to be shooting the next film mid next year.

Pretty Woman Lands Lancôme

The beauty industry takes a new leap with Lancôme, as they just signed the one and only Julia Roberts to be the new spokesperson for the brand. Named "global ambassadress" Roberts takes the leading role in yet another project. “Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments perfectly echo Lancôme’s values. We are convinced she will embody the brand in the most sublime way possible.” -Youcef Nabi (President of Lancôme International)
The Hollywood A-Lister is a natural beauty and brings such presence with her wherever she goes. Lancôme is lucky to have landed her for the new campaign. It is no secret that many actresses are the faces of beauty brands, and it was time for Julia Roberts to glow. Lancôme is a leading beauty company and with Julia Roberts as one of the highlighted celebrities, the pretty woman was perfect for this deal. She is such a powerful woman and we at MSMPR cannot wait to see her shine as the face of Lancôme.

Shoe Wish List: Gucci

Step into spring in style with these fierce Gucci sandals. Have you ever seen anything like these before? They are absolutely insane! Your foot will just glide right into the smooth leather sandal and look stunning with the silver chains just glaring from the sun. What a powerful way to break into the spring season. The detailed work that starts at the toes and ends at the ankle is so flattering and screams wow. You don't want to hide these bad boys underneath a pair of jeans, so show them off as much as you can!

PR & Social Media: For the People, by the People

Public Relations is a profession that is based on maintaining open and transparent communication between an organization and its public. In order for any strong organization to survive, it must build strong relationships with its public, and gain the credibility needed for effective message delivery. With the rapid expansion in communication technology and fast growing use of online social media tools, Public Relations professionals have no choice but to keep up with the times and adapt with this new trend. A lot of what makes social media so exciting and empowering to the public, is that they are in control of what content is put out there. It is the people who decide what's important, what trending topics are hot, and what issues are not. Therefore, it is time that PR "should have a larger ownership of some of the relationships and conversations and the people part of social media," according to Rachelle Spero, Executive Vice President of Cohn & Wolfe.

In an interview today with PRNewser, Spero spoke about the current climate of PR in 2009, which she stated as being, "about community, building and establishing digital presence." Cohn & Wolfe is a global public relations agency that keeps up with the times, which makes it suited to this new era in communications, being digital and social media. They are dominant leaders in the realm of digital media, and have successfully helped their clients achieve enormous results though the use of social media campaigning. MSMPR knows the power of creating a PR campaign through the use of social media tool, such as Twitter and Facebook, and more and more professionals in the industry are jumping on board the digital media train.

However, it is not only important to know how to use digital media, it is also important to make sure to never forget the original purpose of public relations in the process; communicating responsibly and building rapport with the public. As Spero appropriately puts it, "If we forget the people it's anti-social media." As long as PR agencies make sure to focus on continuing to be conversation managers and relationship builders, social media will serve them better than they could ever imagine.

So, you heard it ladies and gentlemen...2009 is all about community! Social media is taking off, and you better believe we're on board!!..are you?

Kanye Collaborates

Kanye West has been laying low since the whole AMA, Taylor Swift stunt and his name has been out of the media for a while now. Recently he’s turned into a tourist with girlfriend Amber Rose and they have been spotted roaming around Italy. While shopping and site seeing, West has also been in meetings for future projects. In an interview Kanye said there might be a collaboration with high end fashion house Fendi. So I guess shopping at the store wasn’t the only thing on his “to do list” while on a mini vaca. Kanye has always had a unique sense of style, and Fendi is one iconic brand that will never fade away. We at MSMPR are interested to see what comes out of this and eager to see what Kanye can do with Fendi.

MSM PR Launches Social Media Department

Hello Friends, Clients, Collegeus, Readers, and Friends,

I am officially announcing the newest direction for MSM Public Relations, we have just launched our Social Media Department. Examples of social media include blogging, podcasts, forums, online press releases, and social networking sites like Facebook and LinkedIn. The use of social media as a marketing tool is quickly becoming prominent in the modern business world, and it can be an extremely effective way to promote products and services to a targeted audience. Websites function as a static billboard to promote your products, services, or ideas, but social media opens up dynamic dialogue with your audience, allowing for interaction and a great personal connection.

In the public relations industry your ability to network plays such an enormous role in determining the success of your career. Today's PR agent must always keep in mind the age old adage: it's not what you know, but who you know. Why? Because we want to cultivate relationships with people who have connections to the type of people who can garner interest in our clients; we are embracing the social media revolution and using it to our advantage.

We have mastered the art of social networking, Twitter PR, online branding, and internet product placement and outreach and have created an entire department dedicated to successfully executing your social networking the right way, the most productive way. Social media public relations has several advantages over traditional public relations strategies: Unlike many traditional PR methods, social media provides an instant connection between you and your target audience. The key to ANY PR Campaign is to target a niche and execute your strategy so that you are hitting the right people. As soon as you put information up on the internet, it immediately becomes easily available to a large number of people. By contrast, television or radio commercials can take weeks to edit, billboards take time to print, and postcards can take several days to travel through the postal service. In terms of cost, social media PR is extremely affordable when compared to other PR methods. When compared to the cost of sending out flyers or postcards in the mail or airing a television commercial, social media is easily the more valuable option in terms of money and budget. Social media is highly effective in that it makes your information available to millions of people through the internet, but can also be used to reach very specific niches, ensuring that your marketing is catching the attention of people who will be interested in what you have to say. Listing your blog on directory websites allows people to find it by searching for specific subjects or causes. Social networking platforms allow you to join or create groups, inviting like-minded individuals to share dialogue with you about your products, services, or ideas. And achieving top rankings on search engines, which can be aided by building relationships through various forms of social media, helps to promote your site and your company or organization to readers who would otherwise be unaware if its existence.

What I admire most about social media is that it allows for a personal connection because unlike most traditional PR strategies, social media allows you to open up a conversation with your audience, allowing them to provide feedback and discuss their ideas and suggestions about your business. Customers who have a personal connection with your business and feel as though you care about their feelings and opinions are more likely to return to you when they need your services again. For organizations trying to promote an idea or cause, social media allows you to have discussions with people, informing them about your cause and potentially changing minds.

Thats what I love about my job... I have the drive to inform and potentially change minds!

Spread the word! If you a business or a product that needs to be out there, and I mean ALL the time, contact me msmpr@aol.com
Stay Fabulous,
*MsM*

Fashion PR Queen of Darkness: Kelly Cutrone

Hell’s Angels, step aside…this b.a. fashion entrepreneur is taking over…and she is a force to be reckoned with! People's Revolution Founder and CEO, Kelly Cutrone, is one tough chick, and the title of her upcoming book says it all: "If You Have To Cry, Go Outside"...she had no time for b.s. ladies and gentleman...man up or get eaten alive. That hard-core personality is not just a front, used in order to intimidate people, rather it is a valuable character trait-turned work-ethic that has propelled Kelly's business to a level of success that most PR firms can only dream of, and beyond. However, Kelly’s achievements were not handed to her by her fairy-godmother, that’s for sure; she came a long way to get to where she is today.

About twenty years ago, she was just a young, small-town girl from upstate New York with dreams of moving downstate to the big city. So, at the age of 21, Kelly packed her bags, most likely filled with her all-black wardrobe, and headed to NYC. With no real plans for a career, she ended up working for a publicist for a few months, learning the tricks of the trade, and soon left to become PR Director for Spin. While the company fit her persona, Kelly quickly realized that she needed to start something of her own. So, she left and started up a company with a former intern called Cutrone and Weinberg, one of the first really young, boutique PR companies. After deciding that it was “the worst job”, she ended her partnership in 1991 and took some time off to figure out her next big move. Kelly’s rock-and-roll persona intrigued music execs at Atlantic Records, where she signed a record deal and moved out to L.A. However, the music biz and L.A. scene was just not cutting it, so once again, Kelly was off and on to her next big venture! She began to see that “Fashion is the new rock and roll,” as she put it, so that’s when Kelly decided to start People’s Revolution, a Fashion Public Relations company, in 1997. And the rest is history!!

People's Revolution Founder and power publicist told Nylon Magazine that she broke out on her own and created her bi-coastal PR powerhouse, stationed in both L.A. and New York, in order to “make a company of the future…a PR company that told the truth versus cheer-leaded”. Why the name People’s Revolution? The name means “the world will change when we change ourselves”, and it’s that kind of idealism that guides the decisions and work that helps People’s Revolution brake boundaries each and every in the PR industry. Kelly knows her mind and is not afraid to speak it, which is why she has chosen for her company to only represent the things that she really believes in. The brands that People’s Rev represents, each “express a message greater than just clothing”, whose visions speak louder than the mundane, commercial, trend-following statements. Kelly is known for carefully selecting her clients, like all good PR professionals should, however she always tends towards the underdogs that border on the edge of what is ordinary and expected in fashion. She has stated that she “could care less about Calvin Klein or Donna Karan…I don’t understand what the message is”. If you’ve ever taken a look at her portfolio of clientele, you would quickly notice that she is not interested in being main-stream. Some of her most notable clients include: Paco Rabanne, Jeremy Scott, Vivienne Westwood, Longchamp, Nicky Hilton and Whitley Kros. She has called herself “the Mother Teresa of the avant-garde”, a title that she deserves and owns the max!

Most of you may have first gotten to know Kelly Cutrone from her spot on the popular MTV reality series, The Hills, where she debuted as Lauren Conrad’s tough-as-nails boss in 2008. It was shocking, and possibly somewhat frightening, to some viewers when they initially witnessed her hard-core management style. However, with each episode, it became impossible not to fall for her confident and witty personality, her cut-throat business ethic, and her endearing softer side, which she shows every one and a while, only to those who are deserving of her kindness, and for whom she obviously cares for, like LC and Whitney Port. Whitney Port is Kelly’s newest star-studded People’s Revolution employee, and fellow cast member of MTV’s newer hit reality series, The City. Whitney Port left The Hills in 2008 when she was offered a job at Diane von Furstenberg in New York City, and was followed by MTV camera’s on her very own reality show, The City. Throughout her time at DVF, viewers we able to see the close relationship that Whitney had with her former-boss, who continued to mentor her through her journey to finding her place in the merciless and fast-pace world of Fashion PR. So, it was only a matter of time until Whitney made the decision to reunite with Kelly, announcing in April 2009 that she would be returning to People’s Revolution NY. Since then, we have watched Whitney shine at PRNY, possessing the ideal no-tears and hard-working attitude that is necessary when you want to hold your own while working for People’s Revolution. Kelly’s tough-love helped Whitney create, edit, and launch her personal clothing line, Whitney Eve, offering up her non-censored opinions and encouraging her every step of the way. So, there is a softer side of Kelly, which she also shows to her 6 year old daughter, Ava, who she loves and adores more than life. Kelly does not believe in live-in nannies, regardless of her demanding work schedule, she is hands-on all the way! This single-mother sets an amazing example for her daughter and all other young girls, as a strong, confident, and hard-working woman, representing girl-power all the way!

The accomplishments that Kelly has achieved are so endless; I cannot even begin to rattle them off. Her agency broke a record for the most shows produced on one day during the New York Fashion Week, 5 shows in one day, because she was the only one willing to produce shows during the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks. With respect to the victims, their families, and survivors of the attacks, she honored them by continuing to lead her life as she normally would, by doing what she does best…the show must go on. There are not enough words to express how respected Kelly is in the industry, she is simply remarkable and every PR professional should take careful notes from her business ethic. Standing out from other firms and being unique in your own practice is what will set a stellar agency aside from the dull, predictable cluster of less-than-thrilling agencies. It is Kelly’s adherence to her personal vision, beliefs, and extraordinary gift for joining communication and art in holy matrimony, which keeps us buzzing on and on about People’s Revolution.

While Kelly Cutrone’s hard-hitting charisma might scare most young, aspiring fashion beginners, all it really takes is a good showing of dedication and commitment to her agency to prove yourself a serious professional. Kelly has not gotten to where she is today by being the nice girl, because who has time for that?! Show her that you’re worthy of her time and interest, really earn it, and she’ll be in your corner forever (instead of in the other corner, if you know what I mean!). She has always advised young women to “follow their dreams and make a lot of mistakes”, which is exactly how she rose to the top if the PR pyramid…always leading by example…and still rising higher and higher! She has recently announced that she and her company will be starring in a new reality television show called “Kell On Earth”, scheduled to debut February 1, 2010 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo. Bravo describes the new show as a "no-holds-barred look into the life of one of America's most legitimate taste-makers as she balances running her wildly successful PR company, People's Revolution, juggling fashion weeks in New York and London, with being a single mother and one of New York's most notable women about town.” Also on the horizon for Cutrone, a book scheduled to hit stores January 2010, called "If You Have to Cry, Go Outside”. So much to look forward to, I can hardly wait!

Kelly Cutrone has grown to become of the world’s most outstanding fashion icons, all by staying keep true to who she is, and what she truly believes in. This PR Fashion guru shows the world every day how to survive in the cut-throat world of fashion and balance her whirlwind life as a single mother and a kick-a** publicist…just by doing it! Her frank demeanor, intense credibility, New-York coolness, and loveable edginess are just a few reasons why people all over cannot get enough of the dark Queen of PR…I know that we can’t here at MSMPR. I unfortunately missed much-awaited season finale of The City last night, which has really set me off balance for my weekly TV schedule…I absolutely cannot wait to get a tasty dose of what Kelly has to offer in this drama-packed episode. I am literally at the edge of my seat while writing this story, anxious to dive onto the couch and click on my trusty DVR!! If you too missed the season finale of The City, catch the full episode on MTV's website …you do not want to miss it! And be sure to set your DVR’s for the premier of “Kell on Earth” to see Kell and Kell’s angels work their PR magic, coming this February!!

Peace out you all! PR, love, rock-and roll…

xoxo MSMPR

Kell On Earth

Kelly Cutrone, the fashion PR giant, has become a household name with the help of her cameo on MTV shows "The Hills" and "The City". Now Kelly plans to really bring us into her world with the premiere of her own show on Bravo named "Kell On Earth" to be debuted on February 1, 2010. The show will be a real life look at what the average day of a big PR firm is like. Kelly promises that the show will emit an actual look into her life and the business. The show which was shot during the 2009 fall Fashion Week, will surely be jam packed with drama and amazing fashion. Kelly also wants the show to be booming with "girl power" because she feels that the women that work for her and herself are ambitious and smart. MSMPR will definitely be following the show, it should be fun to see how we look during work hours through the endeavors of People's Revolution.

All That Glitters Are...Sequins, from LaROK

It's official, December has come, holiday party invitations are pouring in each day, and we are all finding ourselves on a mad search for the perfect holiday party outfit...or multiple! It is hard, however, to justify purchasing high-end duds for yourself, when we all know that we should be saving that money to spend on gifts for others...sigh..Is it possible that a girl can indulge in a little retail therapy to make herself feel smashing at a chic holiday event, while still leaving enough green to play Santa to all loved ones?? And the answer is...drumroll...of course! As long as you stay budget-savvy, anyone get the best of both worlds during the holiday season. Lucky for you, we've found the perfect holiday piece that is both versatile, reasonable, and outrageously stunning: anything embellished with sequins!! Sequined clothing in the form of cardigans, leggings, jackets, skirts, dresses, and accessories have been popping up in stores all over this season. Our perfect pick to dress up any outfit for the holidays: LaROK's 'Vegas Vacation' Sequin Jacket, retailing at $378.00, available at Nordstroms and other retailers. This edgy, finished look pair perfectly with a long tank over leggings, over a chic LBD or with a blousey top tucked into high-waisted dress shorts. Not at fan of the full jacket..then choose their 'Shining Star' Vest, or 'Rockstar' Sequin Leggings to achieve the same, ready-to-party, glam-girl look! So, rock out this season, and step out in sequins!

Throw on Your Louboutins

Ladies, take a back seat on this one...guys listen up! Christian Louboutin is known for that 5 inch stiletto and red bottom sole right? Well, Mr. Louboutin himself has designed a line solely for men, red bottoms and all! Innovation and creativity did not stop at the sky high pumps, they have transended to the men's shoe as well. Snake skin, studds, and lepoard print have landed on the infamous dress shoes and high top sneakers. Caution: these shoes are only for the trendy and brave! A man who is spotted in Louboutins can be considered confident, fashionable, and of course a trendsetter.

Who wouldn't want to be caught in red? Mr. Louboutin is expanding his creative ability and we are with him every step of the way! "The Shoe Genius" has done it again, but who are we kidding? It was just a matter of time before we saw a men's line from him. It never stops at women's shoes, and his men's line is brilliant. MSM PR is very excited to see more of his talent and what he has in store for us next!

So like JLO says in her new song, "I'm throwin on my Louboutins!"

Target is known for having amazing designers create lines for the budget store for lower price points, and they have done it once again. Target will be selling the creations of Zac Posen for Target in spring 2010, and all fashionistas will be lining out the door. This isn't the first time the designer has worked with target either.
