Shoe Wish List: Cesare Paciotti

Oh hello double platform ankle bootie! Need I say more? Cesare Paciotti has an amazing fall/winter collection and this is just one of the many pairs that will be added to our shoe wish list. His work is absolutely incredible. The black suede booties with gold trim and double platform is pure insanity. MSM PR can't get enough of him. Paired with a fabulous mini or great denim you can't pass up these shoes. Notice even the bottom of the shoe has a little edge to it with a sword and thin red bottom. They are so New York and so MSM PR style.

All Wrapped Up In DVF

"Feel like a woman, wear a dress". Those are Diane Von Furstenberg's famous words of encouragement to an entire generation of women, urging them to be strong and confident in their femininity! It was a climax to the American sportswear wrapping tradition, when Von Furstenberg created her signature DVF wrap dress in the 1970's. Diane figured out how to take the classic American wrap design and make it more modern, adding brighter and bolder colors, very 70's era patterns, and a more stretchy fabric. That synthetic, stretch fabric that gave and flowed with movement was the principle behind the DVF wrap dress, which hugs a woman's body so perfectly, creating the most flattering silhouette for almost any body-type. The concept of the dress came from the wrapped dancer's sweater, another classic in American sportswear, and its appeal is in its comfort, wear-ability, and impeccable fit. Diane quickly became a symbol of female freedom during the 70's and thereon after, due to her revolutionary design, and is now a legendary powerhouse in the fashion industry.

The wrap dress has been photographed on countless publications and has been draped across the bods of many celebs over the years.Everyone in today's fashion world owns or knows what a DVF wrap dress is....or if they don't, they're familiar with the style, since it has been replicated by countless designers. However, no dress can ever come close to being quite like the Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress. It is simply a classic American staple, something every woman hopes to have in her wardrobe someday (especially if it's a vintage 1970's DVF! So retro chic). We're certainly all wrapped up in DVF, and you should be too!!!

New York Yankees Celebrate 27th World Series Victory!!!

Yesterday, November 6, 2009, NYC was a vision to see as dedicated Yankees' fans came together to celebrate the much deserved 27th World Series victory. The Yankees' float was filled with the players and celebrities alike as they made their way through the Canyon of Heroes. The day was filled with a sense of pride as New Yorkers could not help but boast about the team's amazing performance in every game this season.

The owner of the Yankees, George M. Steinbrenner, released a statement yesterday about the team's victorious season:

"The Steinbrenner Family and the Yankees Organization are extremely proud of the members of the 2009 New York Yankees for bringing a 27th World Championship to New York City and our fans, the greatest fans in the world. Every World Series victory is special, but this one is especially sweet coming in the first year in our new home.

"The 2009 New York Yankees proved that we are the best in baseball. We beat truly worthy opponents in the American League Division Series, the American League Championship Series and the World Series. As we did all season long, we fought hard, never lost focus and gave a true team victory. Our players have a lot to be proud of. This group will become legendary - similar to the 26 World Championship teams that preceded them.

"Joe Girardi and his team deserve great credit for racking up wins over a long, tough season.

"We are so grateful to our fans. They have never wavered in their faith or enthusiasm through the good and bad years. This World Series belongs to them and to all Yankees, past, present and future.

"We'll enjoy this win. And the quest for number 28 begins."

We can not wait to watch the Yankees take over again next season!!!

How to get ahead in PR: Spot and follow trends!

In the public relations industry, you have to be a go-getter. If you're not, you'll be eaten alive. So, staying on-top of the news and emerging trends of all kinds is crucial to your survival, every day. Today, a post from The Bad Pitch Blog (http://www.badpitch.blogspot.com/) recognized this, and sought to teach fellow PR professionals how they can always be one step ahead of the rest-by simply spotting the trends and following them! A good public relations professional must be able to separate the passing trends from the ones that will stick and take hold of the public, and then run like heck with it! Trend spotting is really a prerequisite for success, and in PR, you can't just be great at it, you must be the best!
The best way to spot important trends is by talking to experts. The Bad Pitch Blog tells us exactly how to do that, with these 6 rules:

1. Pay attention to people you believe in. Get in touch and ask questions.

2. Ask really good (and useful) questions. Have total belief in your sources and make them know this.

3. Find visionaries who can teach you new ideas, and try to tell them one thing they weren't aware of. People who are true visionaries know they can take a new person's ideas to another level. So they are thankful to respond to your call/e-mail. It's important to learn to recognize the difference between true visionaries and slick BS.

4. Be aware of where life is going. Pay attention to the signs that something-big change-is on the horizon.

5. Great trend spotters are always evolving, learning, and growing. Remember that Italian class you're always thinking of taking? Right.

6. Don't just read the Arts section. Be well-rounded. In marketing, and in life, nothing succeeds (even success) like a person who is knowledgeable and, er, interesting. And stuff.

Sara Claire & Esther

MSMPR spots the next "it" women's-wear line! The line named Sara Claire and Esther was founded in 2007 by the grand-daughters of Sara Claire and Esther. Aimee Wolk and Sara Jordan were inspired by their grand-mothers' personal style which was derived from the 1920's era. The ladies took the feel of the 20's and made it modern for the young and ambitious women of the 21st century. Aimee and Sara were spotted by our team wearing some of their pieces and we just could not resist to ask who they were wearing. When we discovered that it was their own designs it was obvious they would be the next upcoming clothing line. The pieces are not only classy and timeless but also breath-taking. Every women will feel beautiful in these pieces and not feel guilty that they will go out of style. The pieces are timeless, it evokes the feeling of pieces you will be passing down to your own grand-daughters.

The fall 2009 line is inspired by men's-wear, which gives it a more sophisticated feel. With the use of vintage lace and accessories every piece feels like a one of a kind design. The line is great for the woman that is always stylish and carries herself with poise. MSMPR will be keeping up with the two young women and we can not wait to see what else they create!

Let's hear it for New York!!!

Yankees 27th World Series Celebration

A Rod Celebrates

Kate Hudson showing support for her man, A Rod

No, that's not just the title of Jay-Z and Alicia Key's newest hit song, it's MSM's big tribute to the one and only New York Yankees, our World Series 2009 Champions!!!!!!!! This is their 27th World Series Championship title, and we couldn't be any prouder!!!! Words can not describe the excitement and joy that we, and thousands of Yankee fans alike, felt last night at around 11:50pm when reliever Rivera forced Shane Victorino to ground out for the game's last out to win the series, beating the Philidelphia Phillies in game six! People seriously had their doubts about a miracle this year after the management changed from Joe Torre to Joe Girardi, and after the team moved their home base from "The House that Babe Ruth Built" in the Bronx over to the palace of a stadium on River Avenue. However, the "aura and mystique" that was said to earn the Yanks their previous 26 World Series tiles under the original stadium, succeeded to transfer itself over to the new Yankees arena...beginning a new legacy, while still continuing the tradition and carrying on the legend.
This was a series filled with tons of hope, anticipation, and dreams, as NY fans all around the world tracked every minute of every game, rooting on their team and never loosing faith. There's something so special about New York that drives fans to pull together and show their unfaltering love and dedication to their team, building a force that can not be taken down by anyone, especially not a Phillie's fan, that's for sure! That's just what happened during this year's series, with fans pulling for their team, creating a synergy that was definitely felt by the players, pushing them through every second of the game. It's been nine years since the Yanks won a series, which feels like a life-time to a Yankee fan, so it's about time boys!! I can certainly say that I went to sleep very soundly last night, with the faint sound of Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" playing in my head.
Game six was full of exciting turns and twists, but what really caused a stadium overtaken with commotion were the fan's favorite players, who are more like celebrity idols in our eyes. Fan-favorite Alex "A Rod" Rodriguez (aka MSMPR's future husband..step aside Kate Hudson..), gave the crowd plenty to cheer for, and not just because he's drop dead adorable. This was A Rod's first taste at post-season success, believe it or not, and now he's finally earned the fan acceptance he's been seeking since he joined the team, well deserved! Hideki Matsui "Godzilla" was named the game's MVP , becoming the 1st Japanese born player to earn that title. Regardless of his place of birth, Matsui is undoubtedly a big-time All-American in every Yankee fan's heart. He received a standing ovation from the stadium at one point as he stepped up to the plate, as well as from all the folks at home watching I'm sure. Andy Pettitte pitched a solid game through the sixth inning, when Mariano Rivera stepped in the close the deal. Pettitte, Jorge Posada, Rivera, and my babe, Derek Jeter, have played together for 15 years, accomplishing everything and sharing the dream. What a cute little team! And we mustn't ignore the feeling of satisfaction that all Yank fans felt from bringing defeat to our arch nemesis and former Red Sox player, Pedro Martinez, who we all deeply detest. Who's your daddy now, Pedro?!!!

Last night's win was truly a moment of pride for New York, and our Brooklyn Bombers...we did it!! And that pride will continue to spill out all over the streets this Friday, when we honor our champions at the Yankee ticker-tape Parade, which will march down Broadway, through lower-Manhattan's "Canyon of Heroes". The team will also be given the honor of accepting the key to the city. You absolutely can not miss it!!! So wear your Yankee gear with pride, I've been sporting my NY bedazzled Yankee cap all day, and spread the Yankee fever everywhere. Now let's all start praying for World Series win number 28...it's up to you, New York, New York!!!

Maggwire: the iTunes of magzines

With all of the online articles that we have at our fingertips, the problem is never finding an article, it's finding one that we actually really care about. Have you ever spent endless hours on search engines, staring at long lists of foreign article titles, feeling hopeless and annoyed? Everyone can relate, and now there is finally a solution that will save you the time and the headache, thanks to the founders of newly launched NYC-based Maggwire. Three investment bankers, Ryan Klenovich, Jian Chai, and Steve DeWald left their jobs to start-up Maggwire, an online website that could possibly become the #1 distribution channel for magazine content. These three men recognized the need for an online magazine community, and they'd like Maggwire to become to the magazine community what iTunes is to the music community, or what YouTube is to videos. You can sort through thousands of magazines and personalize the homepage to only include the publications that you're interested in, all for free!

They currently put out about 10,000 articles a week, from 6,500 magazines sources ranging from food publications to automotive, lifestyle to trade, and beyond. This online site is truly a dream for all of those with a deep love of magazines, as it will most-likely become the go-to source for readers to browse through articles they actually desire to read, rather than wasting money purchasing whole magazines, of which they only read half of. The site even has a feature that can identify other Maggwire users with similar tastes, and based on their rating behavior it can determine which articles you will like before you read them; almost like Netflix. Imagine, finding magazine articles online can be just as easy as finding music on iTunes...hard to believe, since it's all such a painful mess right now. Maggwire is finally it cleaning up, making all of our lives much easier by delivering magazine content from a central source, directly onto our screens, with a few simple clicks. What a relief, can not wait to try this out immediately.
Visit http://www.maggwire.com/ to find the articles and magazines you really want to read!

Happy Birthday Anna Wintour!

The legendary editor-in-chief of American Vogue is blowing out 60 candles today to celebrate her birthday. Anna Wintour has been working for Vogue since 1986 where she first worked for British Vogue. She is famous for starting the trend of featuring celebrities on the cover of Vogue magazines instead of the "super models". That trend has been echoed in every magazine in production today. Wintour has been essential in the success of Vogue in the US and we cannot thank her enough! Anna Wintour will always be looked up to for not only making the bob an iconic look but also for gracing us with an amazing magazine every month. Full Finger Maddness

The latest trend is slowly making its way into every one's jewelry boxes, but for now it seems to be Hollywood's best kept secret. Celebrities such as Rihanna, Paris Hilton, Vanessa Hudgens, and Beyonce, are all flashing around with the full-finger ring. The ring which covers an entire finger may sound uncomfortable but surprisingly it is very flexible. Beyonce was the first to see sporting the ring when she would perform her hit single "Single Ladies". The ring was used as a prop to emphasize her now iconic dance to persuade men to propose. The full-finger ring has now made its way off the stage as a prop and into our everyday lives and is making a statement. The ring is a great way to show off your fashion forward style and look great doing so!

Celebrity Stylist Works Her Magic

Yesterday celebrity stylist, Alegra Torel teamed up with Daffy’s in SOHO for the ultimate makeover. Alegra pulled looks for Lisa Lacy, Editor at Luxuryspot.com. After many trips to the dressing room, Alegra found the perfect outfit for Lisa. She looked great, and today her final touches (a new hair style and makeup) will be shown off in NYC.

It was so much fun watching Alegra work her magic. She can make anything and everything look fabulous. Shopping at such a big department store like Daffy’s can be challenging and frustrating at times, but Alegra kept cool and worked it out.

The MSM PR team is anxiously waiting to see Lisa's complete makeover. We are so excited to see Alegra's outfit and Lisa's new look!
